HISTORY OF UNIVERSITY

By the end of 20-ies higher medical education in Ukraine was possible to get just in Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Ekaterinoslavl (Dnepropetrovsk) and Simferopol.
The question of the need to open a medical school in the Donets Basin was made in January 1930, held in Kharkov, then the capital of Ukraine, the Congress leadership of health workers. Notably one of the justifications for the need: «.... according to the proposed huge development of the Donbass ...". Forecast executives come true!
Already in June 12, 1930 it was made the decision № 19/672 to open the School of Medicine in Stalin city (the first director - Ivan Yakovlevich Olympiev). The budget of the Institute was also approved: 1 year - 150 thousand rubles, a 2 year - 300 thousand rubles.
- Stalin's city council gave a building of financial department, of school and two-story house on the main street of the city, 30 apartments for teachers from other cities
- Stalin Mining Institute has given its area for the teaching of chemistry and physics
- the Kiev Medical Institute has allocated approximately 70 microscopes
- Anatomical Museum of Kharkov University (Professor Vorob'ev VP) gave a series of original medicines, plaster casts, and tables, drawings and samples of special furniture
- Leningrad Military Medical Academy - the academic medical literature
